I'm going to Disney World!

In 30 hours, we will be on the flight to Disney. We will be going to Orlando Disney World this weekend. I will see all the cartoons on the TV during my childhood time face-to-face. I am also going to hug them, kiss them and make love with love them. Mickey, Donald duck, Snow White Princess and Cinderella, here I come.

Disney World is huge, but because of recession of Japan and severe economy crisis in United States, I cannot afford to visit Disney as much as I desire. So I have selected two parks out of 6 parks from Disney World. They are:

Magic Kingdom

and Hollywood Studios

After Disney World, we will also visit Universal Studios in Florida. Some movie scenes, like Jaws, Mummy, maybe...

My 1st Thanksgiving Turkey!

On November 27 this year, I have my first Thanksgiving turkey dinner. It is also the first time the whole turkey (excludes its head and organs) is served on my plate.

Initially, I did not have the idea to buy the turkey for Thanksgiving. We did not cook Turkey before and we do not know how to cook it.

On the eve of Thanksgiving day, we went to grocery shopping at H-E-B nearby. There are many people doing their last minute shopping for Thanksgiving meals.

One H-E-B associate passed me a voucher. Whoa... buy one fully-cooked Turkey and get free 8 stuffs (Aluminium foil, packet mash potato, 12 cans of carbonate water, packet spinach, a loaf of bread, bacon, and etc). Good deal right?! After 15 minutes of searching the smallest (and cheapest) turkey, I brought it home.

Compared to normal chicken that we ate, the turkey is very big to us.

We did not eat much in the lunch, as we prepare our stomach for the dinner.
YY cut out one turkey leg and one small part of turkey breast from dinner. However, we still struggle to finish them all. Unlike our normally eat chicken, turkey meat is very lean. There is only some small amount of fat, and the fat is gathered together in one small area. They are very easy to be handled and removed.

We keep the remaining turkey meat for future meals. It took us one week to finish them all, even though we eat the turkey almost every day!

Alwin and the Chipmunks

Since the first day I reached my apartment in Austin, I always saw squirrels running at the woods behind my apartments. they are so cute and active. especially, their tails are beautiful. Entire day, squirrels just running on the road, climbing the tree and playing with birds.

One thing puzzling me is that I always saw one squirrel playing himself. He never plays with his other squirrel friends. Not sure why?!

Quite often, when I drove on the road outside the apartment, I saw the body of squirrel lying on the road, hit by car or truck. Felt very sad, because they are so cute...

YY and our neighbors always called the squirrel "Alwin". They took photo and showed "Alwin" around to other people. I never understand why they called squirrels "Alwin". I also never asked them. I think maybe they just like the name, who cares.

Last Sunday, while waiting for my lunch, nothing to do so I just turned on the TV and shuffling the channels. Suddenly, a movie that featured 3 squirrels which can talk and sing and dance. They are so funny and naughty. I missed the beginning but they are called "Alwin", "Simon" and "Theodore".

During the lunch, YY is shock to learn that I did not watch the related cartoon "Alwin and the Chipmunks" in my childhood time.
YY: "Then, do you know why we called squirrel 'Alwin'?"
Me: "I dunno ler!"
YY: "Oh my god! why you never ask? no curious meh?!"
Me: "..."

OK, now I know Alwin is the naughtiest squirrel, Simon is the smartest. Theodore likes to eat and fat.
Also, on the day, I learnt that squirrel = chipmunk
Not bad, 活到老,学到老!
